Thierry Henry’s return to Arsenal on a short-term loan has all but been confirmed by Arsene Wenger.
Speaking ahead of the Gunners’ New Year’s Eve home match with QPR, Wenger said the deal “will certainly happen”. The New York Red Bulls player is waiting on paper work to be completed to return to the club where he remains record goalscorer. He is expected to be available until the beginning of March.
“He knows the club, he can help the players and I know one thing: it can only be positive,” Wenger told a press conference. The Frenchman said of his compatriot that he was two weeks short of being match fit.
“He’s 34, but still has class, quality and a football brain,” continued Wenger who has been seeking to protect Robin Van Persie from the injury “red zone” he has fallen into too often during his Gunners career.
