Boca surge clear

Boca Juniors are nine points clear in the Apertura after seeing off second-placed Atletico Rafaela 3-1.

With their title credentials expected to be given a stern test, Julio Cesar Falcioni’s men had the game under control inside 17 minutes thanks to a brace from Nicolas Blandi. Cristian Chavez then capped things off, before Alexis Castro’s late consolation.

Colon Santa Fe are now a point behind Atletico after their 1-0 win at Belgrano Cordoba, given to them by Esteban Fuertes’ 80th-minute penalty.

Lanus are fifth after a 2-1 win over Godoy Cruz. Paolo Goltz put them ahead and, after Guido Pizarro put through his own net, Mario Regueiro won it with nine minutes left.
